OpenAI has indicated a potential release of GPT-6.1 Astra, evidenced by the company announcing token limit resets on a "banked" basis, suggesting users should save tokens for the next Astra-class model. Furthermore, GPT-6.2 Betelgeuse has reportedly surfaced within OpenAI's internal model tracker, with the internal model known as Bel potentially serving as the base for Betelgeuse. OpenAI has also hinted at an imminent launch for GPT-6.1 Astra.
Separately, analysis of Moonshot's Kimi K3.1 Pro and Z.ai's GLM-5.3 revealed uncanny similarities to GPT-6 Astra and Anthropic's Claude 5 series, respectively, according to Artificial Analysis' Personality Indexes, suggesting distillation or heavy stylistic influence via synthetic data. DeepSeek's V4.1-Flash-1017, however, showed no such affinity. In other financial news, the Financial Times recently reported that Anthropic might command a 'junk' debt rating upon its anticipated IPO in November, a situation that could be a limitation given the company's unfunded compute commitments worth hundreds of billions of dollars.
Regarding its funding, OpenAI has raised firm commitments for $11 billion, representing less than half of its targeted $30 billion haul in its most recent funding round, and is reportedly now seeking to raise $20 billion at a valuation of $1.25 trillion.
